CVSS v3.1 |
| A flaw was found in CRI-O. The fix for a previous vulnerability (CVE-2022-4318) was incorrect, allowing it to be bypassed. An attacker capable of setting environment variables on a container can inject a newline character into the HOME environment variable. This issue allows the addition of arbitrary lines into /etc/passwd by use of a specially crafted environment variable. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ice: fix double-free of tx_buf skb
If ice_tso() or ice_tx_csum() fail, the error path in
ice_xmit_frame_ring() frees the skb, but the 'first' tx_buf still points
to it and is marked as valid (ICE_TX_BUF_SKB).
'next_to_use' remains unchanged, so the potential problem will
likely fix itself when the next packet is transmitted and the tx_buf
gets overwritten. But if there is no next packet and the interface is
brought down instead, ice_clean_tx_ring() -> ice_unmap_and_free_tx_buf()
will find the tx_buf and free the skb for the second time.
The fix is to reset the tx_buf type to ICE_TX_BUF_EMPTY in the error
path, so that ice_unmap_and_free_tx_buf().
Move the initialization of 'first' up, to ensure it's already valid in
case we hit the linearization error path.
The bug was spotted by AI while I had it looking for something else.
It also proposed an initial version of the patch.
I reproduced the bug and tested the fix by adding code to inject
failures, on a build with KASAN.
I looked for similar bugs in related Intel drivers and did not find any. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/vmw_pvrdma: Fix double free on pvrdma_alloc_ucontext() error path
Sashiko points out that pvrdma_uar_free() is already called within
pvrdma_dealloc_ucontext(), so calling it before triggers a double free. |
| When using LookupCNAME with the cgo DNS resolver, a very long CNAME response can trigger a double-free of C memory and a crash. |
| Use of externally-controlled format string in Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) allows an authorized attacker to disclose information over a network. |
| Any application that
uses external QSPI flash for encrypted XIP on nRF5340 and relies on that
encryption for confidentiality and/or integrity of the externally stored
code. No specific nRF Connect SDK version is the root cause; the weakness
is in the on-the-fly decryption scheme. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
exit: prevent preemption of oopsing TASK_DEAD task
When an already-exiting task oopses, make_task_dead() currently calls
do_task_dead() with preemption enabled. That is forbidden:
do_task_dead() calls __schedule(), which has a comment saying "WARNING:
must be called with preemption disabled!".
If an oopsing task is preempted in do_task_dead(), between becoming
TASK_DEAD and entering the scheduler explicitly, bad things happen:
finish_task_switch() assumes that once the scheduler has switched away
from a TASK_DEAD task, the task can never run again and its stack is no
longer needed; but that assumption apparently doesn't hold if the dead
task was preempted (the SM_PREEMPT case).
This means that the scheduler ends up repeatedly dropping references on
the dead task's stack, which can lead to use-after-free or double-free
of the entire task stack; in other words, two tasks can end up running
on the same stack, resulting in various kinds of memory corruption.
(This does not just affect "recursively oopsing" tasks; it is enough to
oops once during task exit, for example in a file_operations::release
handler) |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix double-free in SMB2_open() replay
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_open_init() fails before the next send, cleanup
retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix change notify replay double-free
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_notify_init() fails before the next send, cleanup
retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix query_info() replay double-free
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_query_info_init() fails before the next send,
cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix query directory replay double-free
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_query_directory_init() fails before the next send,
cleanup retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| A format string vulnerability exists in the command line interface of AOS-CX that could lead to unauthenticated remote code execution. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability results in the ability to execute arbitrary code as a privileged user on the underlying operating system. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
staging: media: ipu7: fix double-free and use-after-free in error paths
In both ipu7_isys_init() and ipu7_psys_init(), pdata is allocated and
then passed to ipu7_bus_initialize_device(), which stores it in
adev->pdata. The ipu7_bus_release() function frees adev->pdata when the
device's reference count drops to zero.
Two error paths incorrectly call kfree(pdata) after the device teardown
has already freed it:
1. When ipu7_mmu_init() fails: put_device() is called, which drops the
reference count to zero and triggers ipu7_bus_release() ->
kfree(pdata). The subsequent kfree(pdata) is a double-free.
2. When ipu7_bus_add_device() fails: it calls auxiliary_device_uninit()
internally, which calls put_device() -> ipu7_bus_release() ->
kfree(pdata). The subsequent kfree(pdata) is again a double-free.
Note that the kfree(pdata) when ipu7_bus_initialize_device() itself
fails is correct, because in that case auxiliary_device_init() failed
and the release function was never set up, so pdata must be freed
manually.
Additionally, the error code was not saved before calling put_device(),
causing ERR_CAST() to dereference the already-freed adev pointer when
constructing the return value. Fix this by saving the error from
dev_err_probe() before put_device() and returning ERR_PTR() instead.
Remove the redundant kfree(pdata) calls and fix the use-after-free in
the return values of the two affected error paths. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: shaper: reject duplicate leaves in GROUP request
net_shaper_nl_group_doit() does not deduplicate NET_SHAPER_A_LEAVES
entries. When userspace supplies the same leaf handle twice, the same
old-parent pointer lands twice in old_nodes[]. The cleanup loop double
frees the parent. Of course the same parent may still be in old_nodes[]
twice if we are moving multiple of its leaves.
Note that this patch also implicitly fixes the fact that the
i >= leaves_count path forgets to set ret. |
| IBM AIX 7.2, and 7.3 and IBM PowerVM VIOS 4.1 could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges due to a format string vulnerability. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
dmaengine: idxd: fix double free of wq, engine, and group structs
The release callbacks for wq, engine, and group devices
(idxd_conf_wq_release, idxd_conf_engine_release,
idxd_conf_group_release) each call kfree() on the enclosing struct.
The setup error paths and cleanup functions also call kfree()
explicitly after put_device(), producing a double free whenever
put_device() drops the reference count to zero and fires the release.
In the setup functions, device_initialize() is called before
device_add(), so the reference count is exactly 1 at the error sites.
put_device() unconditionally fires the release, which frees the struct;
the subsequent explicit kfree() then operates on freed memory.
For idxd_setup_wqs(), the wq release callback also owns opcap_bmap
and wqcfg. The error unwind additionally freed those fields explicitly
before calling put_device(), causing further double frees on both.
Remove the redundant explicit kfree() calls from all setup error paths
and cleanup functions for wq, engine, and group structs, delegating
sole ownership of those allocations to the release callbacks. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: arm64: vgic: Avoid double-deactivate of IRQs in the nested context
In the nested state, the physical interrupt has already been
deactivated through the HW bit in the LR. The extra deactivation
would be harmless but can hit an errata case on AmpereOne, so
avoid it here.
On AmpereOne, deactivating a physical interrupt through
ICC_DIR_EL1 or ICC_EOIR1_EL1 (depending on EOImode) which is not
active, but is the highest priority pending interrupt causes the
cpu to lose the interrupt pending state and also prevents the
delivery of future interrupts. |
| Issue summary: OpenSSL CMP response validation passed an unexpected response
sender distinguished name directly as the format string to `ERR_raise_data()`.
Impact summary: A malicious or intercepted CMP endpoint can crash a CMP client
that enforces an expected sender or uses a pinned server certificate whose
subject becomes the default expected sender.
CWE: CWE-134 (Use of Externally-Controlled Format String)
Description: When validating a received CMP message, ossl_cmp_msg_check_update()
converts the peer-supplied sender distinguished name with X509_NAME_oneline()
and passes it directly as the format argument to ERR_raise_data(). Percent
characters survive the conversion, so a sender DN such as "CN=%s%n" reaches
BIO_vsnprintf() as an attacker-controlled format string with no matching variadic
arguments. This path is only reached when the caller configures an expected
sender or pins a server certificate, which is the normal configuration for a
CMP client validating server responses.
Since the attacker controls the format string but none of the variadic
arguments, such specifiers as %s and %n dereference or write through unrelated
stack contents and crash the client. The reliable consequence is a denial of
service, when the response comes from a malicious or intercepted CMP endpoint.
There is no controlled memory write, arbitrary-address read, or reliable path
to remote code execution.
FIPS impact: no
No FIPS modules are affected by this issue, as the CMP protocol
implementation is outside the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary. |
| Passing an effectively empty string to the `,ccs=` syntax extension of the mode argument in the `fopen` function in the GNU C Library version 2.45 or earlier may result in a heap buffer overflow when the mode string input to the function is attacker controlled.
This usage pattern is not seen in applications in common GNU/Linux distributions and applications that process user-supplied values for `ccs` should not pass them through without validation. |
| In CodeMeter Runtime before versions 8.41a and 9.10, the logger does not sanitize input strings in certain cases, allowing an attacker to inject printf-style format
specifiers. This can be used to reliably crash CodeMeter and disclose sensitive information such as process memory
and stack canaries. The attack works locally, for example by using cmu --set-proxy to set the proxy value, and
remotely when combined with CVE-2026-81573 by setting General.ProxyServer and then triggering this
vulnerability. |
